Special Tips for buying Papillon Puppies

Papillon dogs are ranked 33 on the list of the most popular dogs in the United States. Which means that although these dogs are quite popular finding papillon puppies may be a challenge depending on where you live? If you are living in an area were few Papillon breeders are located, it does not mean you should give up on your dream of having one of these energetic and affectionate dogs and should have to settle for some other breed, just means you need to find out where to look for the Papillon puppy you want.

First start looking for a Papillon puppy in the town you are living in or in the surrounding communities. Your vet or other vets working in the area might know about reputable papillon breeders, just ask them. Usually, reputable breeders of any kind of pet use veterinarian services on a regular basis.

If there aren't any local Papillon breeders or if they won't be having any puppies that will be available for sale your next best bet is to contact your state dog breeders association to see if there are any breeders in your state that may have any puppies for sale

You can find Papillon puppies in rescue shelters too. These puppies can came from raids on the puppy mills or could be born at the shelter by some rescued pregnant Papillon female. By chance, you may search for Papillon puppies just at the moment when they are available at a rescue or adoption center. If these groups don't have puppies available, you can be put on a waiting list and you will be contacted when the center will receive papillon puppies.

In your region or state may be located several Papillon breeders, but there also can be none of them. In that case you can check with the National Papillon breeders association and find out where the nearest breeder is located.

If all else fails you can do an Internet search and find out if anyone has Papillon puppies for sale or adoption. If you are buying or adopting from a Papillon owner, remember the dogs of this breed need to be socialized from their first month, and you should get informed about how this can be done.

If you identified a breeder who has available puppies for sale, visit him if you can do it in order to see by your eyes the puppies and their parent dogs. When you are talking to the breeder, ask him about his experience in breeding these dogs and about the next steps you have to make after buying. You will also want to do your homework as well because the breeder will be asking you a lot of questions too in order to ensure that their Papillon puppies are going to a good home.
