Stop Cosmeceutical Animal Testing

Over 100 million animals die in labs worldwide every year at the hands of cosmeceutical testing. Animals like rabbits, dogs, and monkeys are crammed into cages and subjected to horrible and torturous tests to determine the effectiveness of a product. Many companies have begun to take a stand against animal testing, and have started using new methods to test potential products. Here are five reasons to stand in the fight against animal testing.
I guess the most obvious reason to stop animal testing is that it is just plain old cruel. Dogs are force fed products still in the test phase in order to determine toxicity upon ingestion. Monkeys have chemical ingredients put in their eyes to see tissue damage. These tests are administered with no pain killers and many of these tests result in the animal's death.
Whether you think so or not, animals have rights. We may have created math, science, and the artificial lung, but in all respect they were here first. I know I would never subject myself voluntarily to any of the tests that are done on animals, why would we do it to another creature against its will. Many animals often break bones from trying to escape restraints put on them during tests. If this were being done to a human against their will, the person doing the testing would be in jail. Humans are just another species of animal, we just happen to be a little bit smarter in some aspects but that doesn't mean that our rights are any different. How do you think the world would feel about 100 million people un-voluntarily being subjected to the same test as animals? I don't think it would go over very well at all.
Not only is animal testing cruel, and a violation of a living creatures rights, it is completely and utterly unreliable. How are you going to be able to accurately determine the toxicity of a product to a rat and a person, when a rat's skin and a mouse's skin are totally different? The results are too inconclusive. For example aspirin is toxic to rats and mice but obviously not to us.
The Food and Drug Administration or FDA ironically enough doesn't require animal testing for cosemeceuticals, yet most skin care companies still test on animals. There are alternatives to animals testing like stem cell research and volunteering human participants. Many anti aging companies have turned to using all natural ingredients proven to work, so to eliminate the need for testing all together.
Help take a stand against animal testing by first off not buying anything that was tested on animals, and finding out what companies test their products on animals. Not only cosmeceuticals are tested on animals. House hold cleaning products, tooth pastes, and even dog food are all tested on animals. Look online or call any animal rights organizations to get as much information as you can to help put an end to animal testing.
